Vantaan katutanssiyhdistys ry

Who are we?

Vantaa Street Dance Association, aka VKTY (abbreviation of our Finnish name) was founded in 2014. The aim of the organization is to promote dance and dance culture with an emphasis on street and club dance styles. You can read more of our principles and goals by reading our rules. We value communality, openness, and high quality.

Our activities consist of weekly dance classes, short dance courses and workshops, trainings for dance teachers and coaches, national and international dance competitions, and other types of events. The goal is to increase the participants’ physical and mental  abilities and wellbeing, to develop dance culture in Finland and to create a community spirit.

We move hundreds of dancers every week in Vantaa. Some of them attend to our hobby dance classes, and others have joined our coaching groups through auditions. In all of our activities, we follow the safer space principles.

The board of our organization is selected annually in our spring meeting. Practical things are taken care of by our administrative staff. Multiple volunteers participate in creating our events. You can too!
